5-Step Unique Fall Craft Idea
As the leaves begin to turn and the air grows crisp, fall beckons us to embrace the cozy warmth of our homes. This season, instead of reaching for traditional decorations, why not explore the beauty of crafting with unexpected items? Items you might typically not think of using for decor can find new life as delightful centerpieces or seasonal accents. In this blog post, we’ll delve into an innovative fall craft idea that utilizes two grease splatter shields and turning them into a beautiful fall pumpkin decor. This fall craft idea will infuse your space with warmth and creativity this fall season. You can find these grease splatter shields at the Dollar Tree for $1.25 each! Grab two of them and let’s start crafting!
1. Prep the shields
The first thing you’ll want to do is remove the tags, paper and plastic, black handles from each shield. I used a small screwdriver to help me remove them. They come off very easily.
2. Assemble the “Pumpkin”
Slightly bend the handles to opposite sides. You don’t have to bend a lot, just a slight bend.
Then stack the two shields on top of each other making sure the handles align at the top. This will give ou the shape of a pumpkin.
Now attach both shields together using flexible wire. You can also use zip ties, by making small holes as needed. I attached them where they meet at the bottom and at the top.
3. Paint everything in desired color
I spray painted mine with an orange spray paint, but you can paint yours with any color you want. You can also use regular paint, but spray paint will paint the screen very nicely without clumping.
4. Create a “stem” for the pumpkin
I wrapped natural rope to the handles of the shields to create a stem-like look for the pumpkin. Hot glue as needed. You can also use fabric or ribbon for this step.
5. Add embellishments to the pumpkin
You can add whatever you want to the piece. Use florals, ribbon or anything else you’d like. I decided to add florals and a galvanized “Harvest” word to it.
I attached foam to the top using hot glue and zip ties. This will help to easily attach florals.
I added greenery to both sides ……..
And a white sunflower in the center. I kept it simple, but you can add what ever you want!
I also added the galvanized “Harvest” to the right side using hot glue and E-6000 glue.
And that’s it! Now you have a beautiful piece to display at home this fall season!
