A Simple Thrifted Wreath Makeover: An 5 Reasons Why Flipping Decor Is Good for You
There’s something magical about giving an old piece of décor a second chance. This week, in Video 2 of my 4-part Monday Facebook series, I’m sharing one of my favorite kinds of projects—a thrifted wreath makeover. What started out as a tired, worn, “seen-better-days” wreath from the thrift store turned into a clean, simple, traditional Christmas piece that completely transformed the mood of the home. And the best part? It cost only a few dollars and a little creativity.

Buying décor new—especially seasonal items—can get expensive fast. But when you thrift, you’re giving yourself the freedom to experiment. You’re not afraid to cut something apart, repaint it, or strip it down to start over, because you didn’t spend $40 on it. You spent $3 or $4… maybe less. That freedom opens the door to creativity. Suddenly, you’re no longer limited by what’s on the store shelves. You’re imagining possibilities, layering textures, mixing colors, and giving your home one-of-a-kind pieces no one else has.
Financially, it just makes sense. One wreath from a big box craft store can cost anywhere from $25 to $120, depending on season and quality. A thrifted wreath makeover, even if it needs a little love, gives you the same end result with a fraction of the investment. And once you start saving in one area, you realize how those savings multiply throughout your home.

This might surprise you… but crafting and flipping thrifted finds is one of the most healing, grounding, and joyful activities you can add to your weekly routine.

• A boost of confidence – Taking something worn and turning it into something beautiful reminds you that you’re capable, resourceful, and creative.
Flipping décor isn’t just about saving money—it’s an act of self-care.
A Classic, Traditional Christmas Transformation
Now let’s talk about the wreath itself.
The original wreath looked like it had lived through one too many seasons. Sparse, flat, and definitely not season-ready. But after some simple adjustments and a few touches of traditional holiday greenery, it transformed into something stunningly classic. It has that warm, timeless charm that reminds you of old-fashioned Christmas décor—elegant, simple, and welcoming.
It’s amazing how the smallest changes can shift the entire feel of a piece. What once looked dull now looks intentional and festive. And knowing it came from a thrift store makes it even better.
