With camping season just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to embrace the spirit of adventure and creativity. This spring banner requires no previous experience, making it accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned DIY enthusiast or just starting out, this project will surely spark your creative side.
In this blog post, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of transforming a plain towel into a stunning spring banner. We will provide you with a list of materials, along with helpful tips and tricks to make the process even easier.
Imagine the joy and sense of accomplishment as you hang your homemade spring banner on your wall, adding a pop of color and a breath of fresh air to your space. So, gather your supplies and let’s embark on this fun and easy crafting adventure together!
The first thing you will need is a banner. I found this one at Dollar Tree a few years ago. You can also easily make one using jute string, cardboard and burlap fabric. Amazon also carries this one that will be perfect for this project. The banner I am using came with six flags, but you can make yours with as many as you want.
Next, you will want to grab a few kitchen towels with a design of choice. Dollar Tree has so many beautifully designed towels! I chose two of this home sweet home towels and two with a flower design that complimented the other two. Cut out any parts and pieces of the towels you want to use. Ensure that you are cutting enough to fit the banner flag.
I used my cordless Surebonder hot glue gun to add hot glue the banner flag. You can also use fabric glue if you would like.
Place the towel over the hot glue and banner flag as needed. Remember to keep a pattern when applying the towels so that it flows well. I started with the flower one, then will add the “home sweet home” one, and kept this pattern.
Using your fabric scissors or a rotary cutter, carefully cut off any excess towel from the edges of the flag. Be careful not to cute the string attaching the banner.
Repeat the process as needed with each flag. I decided to keep the first and last flags in the natural burlap design. This is completely optional. You chose the design you want.
I added faux greenery in between each flag with hot glue. Again, this is optional, however, I think it added a fresh touch of spring and brought everything together. You can also add flowers for an added touch of color.
And that’s it! How easy and beautiful!
Will you give it a try? Let me know!
